We were very nervous about our driving lesson but knowing we really needed it to be able to travel in confidence. Candace immediately put us at ease! She is so experienced and not the least bit apprehensive about any situation. She communicated very well and also listened to our concerns and questions. She also had many tips on just about anything related to RV life in general. RV driving school was worth every penny!

Thank you,

The driving lessons from Mark were great. We just got our 5th wheel and had only driven it home from the dealership. Other than that trip I had never towed anything in my life and was a bit nervous towing a 43ft 5th wheel.
We met Mark in a large gravel parking lot and he immediately put us at ease. I spent the first day just in the lot, with different scenarios set up with cones. By the end of that day I felt way more comfortable turning and backing.
The second day we were on the road. I practiced my turning in and out of town, lane changing on the freeway, and uphill and downhill driving on mountain roads.
Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone getting a 5th wheel, especially if they are new to towing. I have way more confidence driving now, and we are preparing to take our 5th wheel out full time for the next year.

Having never towed anything before, it was daunting to consider towing an RV trailer without having a clue as to what we were doing. And that is what led us to the RVDrivingSchool. My spouse and I each signed up for 6 hours of driver training with instructor Mike Wertz. Mike was a great teacher, and also very accommodating with our Covid protocol requests, i.e. testing and masks.
We did a lot of driving in a variety of settings – construction zones with semis whizzing past to narrow country roads where you had to squeeze by an approaching vehicle. We practiced backing up and parking our trailer in an unused warehouse parking lot and pulled our trailer through a commercial weigh station. He also had us gas up and gave us some valuable insight into pulling through a gas station. We alternated time at the wheel, as opposed to each getting a separate 6 hour day of instruction. This was a great technique because it kept us from getting too fatigued – we would drive for a while and then get a break while the other was driving.
We consider the cost of the training as “money, well spent”, and highly recommend Mike as an instructor.

The instructor Steve Medlin was extremely informative and professional. He provided very useful techniques and challenges to build confidence in towing our rig. We would definitely recommend his services to others as a top-notch instructor. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us.

My lesson with Joe commenced at North Trail RV Center.  I had just purchased a 44 foot Newmar.  I am a UK citizen who has lived in Bermuda for the past 34 years, I drive a Chevy Spark back home where the speed limit is 35kph and we drive on the opposite (correct) side of the road.  So, to say I was a little nervous getting behind the wheel of such a large vehicle was a bit of an understatement.  Joe drove it from the RV center to the practice site, then the fun began.

Joe’s instructions were clear and concise and cleared up the many hours of YouTube video’s I had watched prior to the lessons.  Before I knew it, we were driving on small side streets, main roads and the interstate, without any worries or concerns.  After the lessons I drop Joe back at his truck and he followed me to the campground where I will be staying for a few days.  Drying alone after Joe’s lessons was actually fun and I was not intimidated by the size of the vehicle, (not sure I can say the same for the other road users).  But seriously Joe made the operation of such a large vehicle fun with the utmost consideration to the safety of not only me but the other road users.

I will be back for an additional top up lesson when I purchase my car for flat towing, early next year.

Again, a big thanks to Joe.

I had a good time. I never felt intimidated. Bill did an excellent job. I felt very confident. The training gave me (and my husband) the confidence that I can drive our coach anytime. I will surely recommend your training school.
Thank you

May God Bless you

So first off money well spent!

Philip was fantastic! Both my wife and I can not imaging beginning our journey (full time, first RV!) with out this valuable training.

Here are some bullet points on Phillip:
  • Safety was a top concern, for us and the coach as well as other drivers on the road.
  • We had plenty of on the road time in various situations.
    • Hills, city, roundabouts!
  • Phillip was patient and thorough, direct in his approach to teaching and was not satisfied until we could master his tasks.
  • We covered all the course material and he spent a good bit of time helping us understand pivot points, rear swing as well as what to expect when turning left or right with the coach’s behavior.
  • We now have a much better upstanding of the air brake systems, HWH leveling and various components in the coach.
  • We finished the course and left to begin our new life adventure fully confident we could keep our selves safe and thus around us.

Marianne and I are first time RV’ers, and we jumped in big time. Could not have done this without Phillip’s leadership.

Cheers

What a pleasure to have graduated from this 2-day course with the confidence I can drive my 40-foot coach.  The instructor, Bill Anderson, was professional and patient.  He gave an outline of what to expect each day and fully explained each maneuver we practiced.  With a focus on making sure we are safe on the road;  I know how to handle many real-life obstacles with assuredness.  I would recommend this course for anyone who wants to learn how to drive an RV or improve your skill set to safely drive down the road.

I had the most wonderful instructor for my 2 days of RV behind the wheel driving classes.
Emory Macy was carrying and flexible with me, as I had a lot of drama come up in my life after I signed up for the class.   Emory was flexible to move the dates and location to make it work best for myself and his time.

Emory was patient, personable, keeping me engaged by bringing real life situations to the conversation of training.     Emory provided me with some reading material, prior to class.  This was all very good reminders of what we should know before we get behind the wheel to start our trip.

Thank you

We can’t say enough about how much value we got from our recent RV Driving School lesson with Mike Wertz!  Mike did a fantastic job covering all the bases of what we might encounter: various scenarios making different types of turns, how to go down a steep road, how to handle very narrow streets, how to navigate gas stations, backing in – even how and where to park when boondocking at a Walmart or Cracker Barrel.  My husband got lots of opportunities to practice each skill, and I’m planning to make him a T-shirt with Mike’s famous “Look and Learn on Every Turn” emblazoned on it!  By the end of the 2 days, my husband felt so much more confident and in control.

Mike was super friendly, professional, knowledgeable and encouraging.  He instantly made us feel comfortable and treated us kindly and with infinite patience – even when I asked him a million questions.   He had so many good tips about things like joining an RV specific Facebook group, using the satellite option on Maps to plan ingress/egress, and using checklists.  He also helped us add to our list of warranty repairs – with a new RV, we just don’t know what we don’t know, and Mike helped teach us some of that as well.
After having just bought a new RV, the added expense of the drive school was a bit daunting, but we feel that it was worth every single penny and we are so glad and grateful that Mike was able to fit us into his schedule.  From our first online inquiry to the final receipt of our program completion certificate, the RV Driving School has been a pleasure to work with and we will highly recommend you to fellow RVers!
Thanks so much
